PSV E2 played today for the 3rd time this season against Helmond Sport. At the beginning of the match it was immediately apparent how Helmond Sport wanted to play. They were well oriented in the back, played very defensively and only used the long ball. PSV struggled to create chances in the early stages. In the 13th minute, PSV finally scored. A good shot by Mylian came back from the goalkeeper and Joris reacted well and was able to shoot the 1-0 through the rebound. PSV made the 2-0 soon after. After a nice action by Mylian he put Joris with a great cross ball only in front of the goalkeeper and he managed to get the ball into the goal in 2 instances. Right after the 2-0 PSV had a great chance to make it 3-0 and decide the match but this did not happen. Helmond Sport took advantage of this and in the 18th minute came through well on the right side and shot the ball hard above Kevin into the goal.

In the second part of the match, PSV was the better side again. We could play our midfielders very easily, they were free all the time. That allowed us to get in front of the Helmond Sport goal a few times, but we forgot to put the ball in the goal. We had a lot of chances but we were not sharp enough in front of the goal. 13 minutes after half-time it was Helmond Sport who shot the equalizer via a free kick, undeservedly. Helmond Sport continued to fight hard and did everything they could to get a good result here. After the 2-2, PSV again had a couple of 100% chances to score a goal through Joris and Gioele but it didn't go in.

We went into the last part of the match with a 2-2 score. If we stayed calm and played the game well, we knew we would win the game and it could be a big result.
It stayed exciting for a very long time. The Helmond Sport team was able to stop the PSV team from playing well. 5 minutes before the end of the match PSV scored. Martijn shot the ball well into the short corner after a dropped ball from 15 meters to give PSV a 3-2 lead. It remained exciting for a long time. We had 3 or 4 more chances to decide the game before the end but again failed to make it 4, 5 or possibly 6-2.
PSV showed good football at times, but we really need to be sharper on our chances next time. That is a lot nicer and easier to play.
