The report

On the first day of December, PSV O15 played against the peers of FC Volendam. Earlier, PSV won 3-1 in Eindhoven after a moderate match. Volendam bivouacked in eighth and last place before the match started and could be formally relegated today if they did not win themselves. PSV previously played itself safe for participation in the champions' pool after the winter break and last weekend gained confidence by beating leaders Vitesse 1-2.

The first half was mediocre from both sides. Nothing happened in front of the goals for the first fifteen minutes. But in the 20th minute this was amply compensated. After halftime, PSV quickly scored the 0-2. A free kick by Sven Simons was shot in at the far post by the attentive Jaivy Lourens. With that, the match seemed decided, but PSV was indolent at times with the ball possession. This gave Volendam a few chances. But every time goalkeeper Niek Schiks was able to save. At least one wonderful save, when he tapped a ball off the crossbar, was crucial. PSV also had chances to increase their lead. Sven Simons saw his kick narrowly avoided by the goalkeeper. Because Volendam managed to hit the side netting twice and not the goal, the game seemed to end 0-2. However, just before time, it was Iggy Houben who remained calm only in front of the goal and simply brought the final score to 0-3.

So three points added in a mediocre match. With this result Volendam relegated definitively to the Eredivisie Low after the winter break. PSV will then compete for the championship.
