Both teams started the match at a slow pace. Not much happened on the pitch for the first ten minutes. In the 13th minute a quick attack by PSV was immediately effective. A smooth combination allowed Yorbe to take advantage of his speed on the right. A tight shot high into the goal made it 0-1. Dongen immediately tried to do something back but the shot just missed the goal. In the 19th minute it became 0-2. This goal was almost identical to the first goal. A fast breakaway on the right was tapped in by Yorbe. A few minutes later it was Beslan who saw the ball from a free kick, via the goalkeeper and the inside of the post, roll past. In the remainder of the first half there were no more goal attempts so the halftime score was 0-2.
In the second half, PSV started to combine better. In the 38th minute this resulted in a nice goal. An attack via several players was finished off in a controlled way by Dani (0-3). Dongen immediately tried to do something back but the shot hit the post. PSV got better and better in the game and through fast combinations Dongen was pushed back. In the 58th minute a nice combination was tapped in by Quinn (0-4). The last chance for PSV, again nicely played, was shot just wide.
