Today was the last league match. After a few weeks ago it was already clear that the E of PSV would become champion, today it was about which team would take that honor. For the opponent, Reusel Sport, there was nothing at stake except prestige.
On a difficult pitch, the initiative was with the visitors from the start. Which resulted in a 0-1 lead in the fourth minute. An attack set up on the left through Niels and Gregory was well appreciated by Bryan. With a nice foot movement he surprised the goalkeeper in the short corner (0-1). The next chances were also for PSV. First Gregory had a free shot. Unfortunately for him, the ball hit the wrong side of the post. Then it was Brayn's turn, following a pass from Yassin. But his shot was also off target. Slowly but surely, Reusel Sport shook off the awe and looked more and more to attack. In the 10th minute Pepijn had to save a shot from the second line. At the other end, Tijn also tried his luck from distance. His effort grazed the top of the crossbar. Five minutes before half time the deserved equalizer finally came. A long ball to the deep striker of Reusel Sport was well taken by him and shot into the PSV goal (1-1). From the kickoff Arne tried to surprise the defense of Reusel Sport with an individual action. Unfortunately the ball went past the goal.
The hosts had a dream start after halftime. Within two minutes it was 2-1 on the scoreboard. A razor-sharp counter was effectively completed (2-1). Within ten minutes, Reusel Sport decided the game in their favor. With again two counters and a free kick they even managed to extend the score to 5-1. In the 43rd minute the visitors could do something back. A nice pass from Tijn found Sem who reduced the deficit to 5-2. In an all or nothing attempt by PSV, it ended up being nothing. Again Reusel Sport managed to extend the lead to 6-2. Just before time, Sem managed to make the score a little more bearable. A shot by Gregory came back off the crossbar, after which Sem managed to work it into the goal (6-3).
Thus it ended up not being a fitting finale to a great league.
