Against all weather forecasts, there was bright sunshine at the Herdgang this morning. The last league match was on the program and the opponents were the life-time rivals from Eindhoven. At 10 a.m., captain Joop Daniëls called the men together for the usual yell and the match could begin. PSV started strongly and with nice and well-groomed combination play the free man was found every time. The right final pass was not found until a good attack via Koen and Jay led to a corner. Jay put the ball at the far post ready for Koen who nodded the 1-0 in nicely. PSV continues to play good football and keep Eindhoven under pressure. Where normally the opponents are bigger than our boys, today several opponents were the size of Joop and our boys were physically stronger. After a nice attack Koen hit the bar and in the rebound the attentive Joop got his head against the ball which made it 2-0. Halfway through the 1st half, PSV gets a free kick at about 15 meters from the goal after a foul on Joey. The Eindhoven wall does not stop Davy from shooting the 3-0. Moments later a good attack from Eindhoven, but they find a good Kyan on their way, who wants to keep his goal clean today. The 4-0 from PSV is an attack out of the book. From the back Joey reaches Koen, who reaches Davy on the side. He cuts inside and from a difficult angle he places the ball with a carpenter's eye in the corner and leaves the goalkeeper defenseless. Then Joop also makes it 5-0 from a scrimmage which is also the score at halftime. I think the supporters have seen an excellent 1st half with beautiful football.
The second half PSV continues well. Rico crosses the field after a nice chest shot and puts Jay free in front of the goalkeeper. However, his slide is blocked by the goalkeeper. Because the team can move in more from the back, Eindhoven gets more space, but Kyan stays alert. After defusing an Eindhoven attack, he sees Joop standing free who allows Jay to score the 6th. A nice pass from Davy to Joop, who is not put away in the duel and the 7-0 is a fact. The score could have been even higher in this period but the Eindhoven goalkeeper keeps PSV from scoring with some good saves. Then Joop picks up the ball, runs past everyone and scores his 4th. At the back Koen does the honors so Joey and Rico can enjoy themselves with some rushes but despite some good actions they don't score. Davy does and puts the 9-0 score on the board.
