  1. Match report

After the flattering defeat in the rescheduled league match against Ajax earlier this week, the B2 had the cup match against AZ's B1 in Alkmaar on Saturday. The match ended in a large and deserved victory for AZ, although PSV had their own hand in it emphatically.

Although PSV played against AZ's B1 and had to miss a number of players due to injury, illness and suspension, the defeat was mainly due to the fact that PSV almost willingly let themselves be led to the slaughter by a lack of match attitude. Although AZ created two good chances in the early stages, PSV held their own for the first 26 minutes of the first half. Then in a few minutes the game was decided by 2 personal mistakes and PSV had little more to contribute. In the 26th and 29th minute, AZ took merciless advantage of two identical mistakes in PSV's defense, in which a poor pass put a teammate in trouble in the build-up and resulted in ball loss close to goal. AZ then turned those gifts into the 1-0 and 2-0 with lightning speed. PSV was resigned to the setback, and did not give the impression of wanting to get back into the game, which given the age difference and the absence of a number of players was the only possibility to make things difficult for AZ.

Although the 2nd half was slightly better, PSV could not make a fist against AZ, who, unlike PSV, managed to create a number of good chances and score twice from them. Partly because of the age difference it was clear that AZ is further ahead than PSV. In a few weeks AZ will come to Herdgang for the league. A good opportunity for the B2 to take revenge for Saturday's defeat.
