Recording a 4-3 win against FC Twente, PSV have opened up an eight-point lead over Ajax, AZ and PEC Zwolle, but captain Marco van Ginkel put things into perspective, speaking to the media after the game. “Of course we are happy to have collected a fair number of points but we should not be carried away. We have not won anything yet.”
Commitment and passion
Van Ginkel scored his seventh goal of the season for PSV, from the penalty spot. Head coach Phillip Cocu saw the midfielder also rattle the bar and post after the restart. “We showed commitment and passion in the second half”, said Cocu, who was not pleased with his side’s first-half display.
‘You can enforce your luck’
“It was an open and entertaining game”, continued Cocu. “Lady Luck was on our side but we had the right attitude to win the game. We had the absolute desire to take all three points and fought until the final whistle as we wanted to capitalise on Ajax’s and Feyenoord’s dropping points. And maybe you can enforce your luck.”
‘Increase team performance’
PSV may be flying high at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie table but Phillip Cocu realises that there is still a long way to go. “We are delighted to continue our bright start to the campaign. We are using team chemistry to increase our performance.”
