PSV U21 moved up to third in the Jupiler League table after their fifth win in a row. Albert Gudmundsson was the hero, as the Icelander scored a superb hat trick in PSV U21’s 4-1 win over RKC Waalwijk on Friday evening. Lammers missed a penalty on 17 minutes but got his name on the score sheet with an 80th-minute goal.
Lammers hit the post twice
PSV U21 started brightly, in search of their fifth consecutive victory, and Sam Lammers had the first goal scoring opportunity in the very first minute. PSV U21’s top scorer rounded RKC Waalwijk goalkeeper Williams, but hit the post from a narrow angle. Lammers had another chance to open the scoring six minutes later when he stepped up to take a penalty, but he hit the woodwork again. The visitors took the lead on fourteen minutes, when Voskamp headed home from a corner: 0-1. It was all square again on the half-hour mark when Albert Gudmundsson slotted home the equaliser. HT: 1-1.
RKC Waalwijk dominated the early exchanges of the second half and PSV U21 goalkeeper Hidde Jurjus pulled off two fine saves to keep his side in the game. Albert Gudmundsson became the hero when he scored twice in quick succession (’67 and ’71) to complete a hat trick: 3-1. Lammers showed goal scoring prowess when Gudmundsson set him up to add a fourth goal, following a fine solo run. FT: 4-1.
