Ricky van Wolfswinkel is the man to watch when PSV welcome KNVB Cup finalists Vitesse. The prolific striker has scored a goal in three consecutive games and played his part in 18 league goals the season for fifth-placed Vitesse.
Eight opening goals
Along with feyenoord striker Nicolai Jørgensen, Ricky van Wolfswinkel is the most valuable player in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has netted thirteen goals and has five assists to his name. He scored eight opening goals for his team this season, facing tough competition from midfielder Davy Klaassen who has opened the scoring for Ajax nine times.
Ricky van Wolfswinkel, though, has not yet managed to find the net against PSV and sc Heerenveen. He also drew the attention by making 49 fouls this season, more than any other Vitesse player. Sparta hold the record, with 374 fouls, ADO Den Haag come second with 362 and Vitesse have committed 344 fouls.
Van Ginkel, Pröpper and Cocu
Marco van Ginkel, Davy Pröpper and PSV head coach Phillip Cocu once plied their trade at Vitesse. Cocu made 137 league appearances for Vitesse between 1990 and 1995, while Van Ginkel and Pröpper played 93 and 133 matches, respectively, in yellow and black colours. Both players came through the youth ranks at Vitesse. Lassana Faye is the only Vitesse player who briefly returns on familiar grounds. He was a member of the PSV Academy from 2012 to 2015.
