Twelve races in 2010
There are twelve races on the Superleague Formula by Sonangol schedule in 2010, eleven of them on European circuits. The season kicks off at a new-to-Superleague venue, Silverstone in Great Britain on 3/4 April. All teams that compete in the Superleague Formula will use identical 750 horsepower V12powered cars and technologies, with an estimated top speed of 320 km/h. As all cars will be similar from a technical point of view, the emphasis will be placed on the team’s performance and each driver’s contribution, skill and ability. Adding to Superleague Formula´s appeal is its unique Qualifying format, with a fully reversed grid in the second race and the Super Final. Six clubs will do a five-lap dash for cash at the end of race two on Sundays. Drivers will battle for a weekend purse of €100,000 in prize money going to the winner of each weekend round.
PSV clinched their first Superleague Formula victory of the season after Narain Karthikeyan won race 2 at Brands Hatch on Sunday afternoon. PSV faced technical problems in race 1, but the Indian driver finished first in race 2 to record an impressive victory, with a twelve-second advantage over the RSC Anderlecht car.
The PSV racing team suffered a disappointing weekend at TT circuit Assen. Driver Narain Karthikeyan finished thirteenth in race 1 and ninth in race 2 in Round 2 of the Superleague Formula by Sonangol. After Round 2, the PSV racing team are seventeenth in the general standings of the 2010 season.
