“We came back well from the international break”

05 april 2009 10:00
PSV head coach Dwight Lodeweges was glad his team had grabbed all three points with a 0-2 win against Sparta on Saturday night. “We came back well from the international break and produced a solid team performance. We did not shine after the break, but it’s the three points that matters and we got them”, said Lodeweges.

Isaksson made a terrific save

“It’s been a funny two weeks”, started Lodeweges his analysis of the game just played. “Culina didn’t arrive in Eindhoven yesterday until 3pm and Salcido only started training at 4 pm. We decided to hand them a place in tonight’s starting line up all the same, as they had come back from international duty unscathed. I think they put in a decent display and we did well as a team.” Lodeweges praised goalkeeper Isaksson for making a crucial save. “We scored two goals but Andreas kept us on top by pulling off a terrific save. We knew Sparta would push forward after the break. Yet we kept our composure and got the win. It wasn’t a feast of flowing football in the second half, but it’s the three points that matters and we got them. Heerenveen dropped points and I’ m glad we came back well from the international break, as we enjoy our second victory in a row.”
