Final training picture special

Jan Wouters, Anton Janssen and Luc Nilis supervised the training session at the Sükrü Saraçoglu Stadium on Tuesday night, after which the squad retired to their hotel to prepare for tomorrow night’s return leg against Fenerbahçe. Some two hundred loyal PSV fans had already arrived in Istanbul and saw the squad work out for sixty minutes.

The players did the customary exercises, with the wingers delivering a series of crosses to test the strikers’ ability to hit the target. It was rather chilly in Istanbul on Tuesday night, when they players had their last training session ahead of the UEFA Champions League group stage match. It had just stopped raining and the temperature was ten degrees. PSV hope to pull off a shock result at the Sükrü Saraçoglu Stadium, which accommodates 60.000 fans. Striker Danny Koevermans was back at the stadium, where his former club AZ drew 3-3 in a crazy kind of game with Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Cup last season. “I have never suffered defeat against Fenerbahçe and I want to keep it that way”, he said.
