VVV-Venlo retain top-flight status

FC Zwolle and Willem II are the newcomers when the Eredivisie 2012/13 campaign kicks off. Having been crowned Jupiler League champions, FC Zwolle earned automatic promotion to the Eredivisie. Willem II were promoted to the Eredivisie after beating Sparta Rotterdam (1-1; 2-1) and FC Den Bosch (0-0; 2-1) in the playoff final, decided over two legs. Helmond Sport were close to being promoted to the top flight on Sunday afternoon. They were beaten 1-2 at home by VVV-Venlo in the first leg, and were one goal down after five minutes in the second leg in Venlo. Helmond Sport staged a remarkable comeback and Stachnik and Grabovac gave their team a 1-2 lead after just fifteen minutes. Danny Holla struck a penalty midway through the second half to help VVV-Venlo retain top-flight status.
