Wilfred Bouma signs one-year contract extension with PSV

PSV´s technical director Marcel Brands has confirmed that Wilfred Bouma has signed a new contract with PSV until the summer of 2013. The 34-year-old defender returns to pre-season training today, as he enters his thirteenth season in Eindhoven.

Wilfred Bouma has signed a contract extension with PSV for one year.

“A genuine team player”

Bouma´s contract with PSV expired this summer but PSV were keen to extend his stay and offered him a new one-year contract. “Wilfred Bouma had a good season; he is a highly experienced, genuine team player who adds value to the team”, said technical director Marcel Brands on Thursday morning. Bouma, called up to the Holland squad for the Euro 2012, returns to pre-season training today. The defender came through the ranks at the Philips Stadion and made his first-team debut for PSV at the age of 16 in the 1994/95 season. He also had loan spells with MVV Maastricht and Fortuna Sittard and spent five years seasons at Premier League side Aston Villa between 2005 and 2010. He made 26 and 27 Eredivisie appearances, respectively, for PSV the past two seasons.
