He spent seventeen seasons with PSV (1964-1981), during which he scored a record 308 league goals, clinched Dutch titles and won the UEFA Cup in 1978. Willy van der Kuylen and nobody else is Mister PSV. Skiete Willy was a technically skilful player. He would round defenders, set up team mates and score wonderful goals as a two-footed player. Van der Kuylen was not a leader on the pitch, but his technique was unparalleled. When Kees Rijvers was at the helm during the mid seventies, Van der Kuylen enjoyed his best spell, but he has gained respect all through his successful career. He has served PSV for many years as a member of the technical staff and later of the scouting staff. His statue is to be found at the south-east corner of the Philips Stadium, beside the statue of Coen Dillen, another prolific PSV goal scorer (1926-1990).
