Bourdais wins Super Final

Debutant Carlo van Dam, who was unveiled as the new PSV driver last week, finished tenth on Sunday, both in the first and second race, which is not a bad result for the Superleague Formula newcomer. Van Dam is keen to make progress quickly. “It’s been a new experience for me. I improved in the second race and I leave Estoril with a positive outlook on the next race”, said Van Dam. Olympiacos’ Esteban Guerrieri took a superb win in race 1, while the FC Porto fans celebrated Alvaro Parente’s victory in the 45 minute-long race 2. Sebastien Bourdais won the Super Final. The Frenchman started from fourth in the five-lap Super Final. He dived past Anderlecht into turn 1 to take third and was into second when Corinthians driver Antonio Pizzonia slid wide and out of the lead in turn 4. Bourdais sliced up the inside of Adrian Valles’ car before the end of the lap and never looked like losing his lead from thereon. Olympiacos’ Esteban Guerreri followed Bourdais for second, with Liverpool driver Valles holding off Anderlecht driver Yelmer Buurman for the final podium spot. Superleague Formula’s second season will visit circuit Monza circuit in Italy on October 3/4, 2009.
