Afellay and Bakkal celebrate PSV´s fourth goal.
PSV outclassed ADO Den Haag on a hectic afternoon. Ola Toivonen scored four goals in PSV´s 5-1 rout in Den Haag. The hosts had two players sent off. When the score was 0-3, referee Roelof Luinge suspended play for fifteen minutes after the home crowd had started chanting obscene songs. PSV dominated proceedings from start until finish.
Hectic afternoon
PSV were never really threatened as they took a 0-2 lead in the first fifteen minutes. Referee Lounge brandished the red card to Van den Bergh in the first half and Immers was shown his marching orders after the break. The referee suspended play for fifteen minutes after the home crowd had started chanting obscene songs. PSV stayed cool and bagged another three points. Ola Toivonen enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in Den Haag. The Swede shone as he netted four goals. Danko Lazovic also put in a commanding display and made his mark with three assists. The home side scored a consolation when they had been reduced to nine men.
Toivonen first-half hat-trick
Rutten included Ola Toivonen in his starting line-up and the Swedish striker had his diligence rewarded with an early goal. Lazovic delivered a low cross from the left flank after ten minutes and Bakkal´s clever dummy allowed Toivonen to slot home: 0-1. PSV doubled their lead four minutes later. Lazovic´s through ball found Dzsudzsák inside the box and the Hungarian set up Toivonen to finish with the easiest of tap-ins: 0-2. ADO coach Atteveld made a double substitution on the half-hour mark, with Van den Bergh replacing Horváth. The substitute had been on the pitch for barely seven minutes when he was sent off for a vicious foul on Afellay. On the stroke of half-time, Lazovic, who was outstanding, did all the hard work with a lovely run before unselfishly cutting the ball back to Toivonen who completed his hat-trick with a glancing header: 0-3.
Play was suspended on the hour mark.
Second-half goals from Bakkal and Toivonen
After Atteveld had made his third substitution, PSV continued the rout and in the 51st minute Lazovic, again, turned provider for Bakkal, who took his tally for the season to seven goals. Six minutes later Immers was shown a straight red card and referee Roelof Luinge suspended play for fifteen minutes after the home crowd had started chanting obscene songs. After the restart, Reis came on for Pieters and Marcellis replaced Manolev. Reduced to nine men, Soltani managed to score a consolation for ADO Den Haag twenty minutes from time, but Toivonen restored PSV´s four-goal margin in the 73rd minute.
