Ronald Koeman dismissed by AZ

Ronald Koeman is no longer in charge of AZ after the board of directors of the club decided to part company with him with immediate effect. AZ, who travel to Eindhoven on Saturday, December 12 to face PSV, decided to dismiss their head coach following the seventh defeat in the Dutch league. AZ slipped to a 1-2 defeat against Vitesse in Alkmaar on Friday. Koeman, who spent three seasons with PSV as a player (1986-1989) and one season as head coach (2006-2007) had been in charge with the ruling champions since June 2009.

Ronald Koeman has left AZ with immediate effect. Koeman has reached an amicable agreement with the club over the termination of his contract, following a board meeting, it says on the club’s website. AZ have started the search for a new manager and while that continues the assistant coaches will take charge of the team on a temporary basis. AZ also part company with assistant coach Tonny Bruins Slot.
