Phillip Cocu happy with style of play
Cocu: ‘We were happy to show this is the football we want to play’
PSV head coach Phillip Cocu told the media at the post-match conference that he was happy with PSV´s style of play. “We were happy to show this is the football we want to play. We dominated the game from the first whistle. We put AC Milan´s defence under pressure and created goalscoring opportunities.” Cocu explained why he had handed Park a place in the starting line-up against AC Milan. “I know what kind of player he is. He can find spaces between the lines and is always in the right place. Moreover, he can read a game and will hardly ever lose possession.” Cocu knows his team can learn from their mistakes. “We will obviously analyse the match and continue our learning process. We must see to it that we will not make the same mistakes in the next match.”
Allegri: ‘Impressed by PSV´s fitness level’
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri announced at the post-match conference that he happy with the result. “We put in a decent display tonight, although PSV dominated the opening 45 minutes. We were made to work hard for our share of the points. I think a draw is a fair result.” Allegri was particularly impressed by PSV´s fitness level. “That was the difference between the two teams. We played only our first competitive match of the new season, while PSV started the pre-season campaign many weeks ago. They field a young side with physically and technically strong players.” Allegri expects his team will have raised their fitness level when the return leg takes place. “I’m looking forward to a cracking game of football”, he concluded.
