PSV win Polish Masters after 3-1 win over Benfica
Benfica took first-half lead
PSV head coach Dick Advocaat had made eight changes to the team that beat Athletic Bilbao yesterday. Captain Van Bommel, Toivonen and Narsingh were the only players that were handed a start for the second time in a row. Zanka and youngster Van Ooijen were included in the starting XI, as Narsingh, Depay and Toivonen had chances for PSV. However, Benfica took the lead in the 34th minute when Martins slotted home: 0-1.
Second half goals from Zanka, Lens and Wijnaldum
Willems and striker Locadia came on for Ritzmaier and Van Ooijen in the second half. Zanka levelled the score nine minutes after the restart, opening his scoring account for PSV when he headed home Depay´s corner: 1-1. Advocaat also brought on Strootman and Lens and the substitutions paid off when Lens finished clinically in the 73rd minute, with Locadia delivering the assist: 2-1. Minutes later, Benfica were reduced to ten men after Maxi Pereira had been sent off. With six minutes remaining, Wijnaldum scored his second goal in as many matches in Poland. Final score: 3-1. After collecting victories over Athletic Bilbao and Benfica, PSV have won the ; Polish Masters. The team will fly back to Holland on Sunday evening.
