PSV suffered their first league defeat of the season in Breda on Saturday night as they slipped to a shock 2-1 defeat at NAC. PSV completely dominated the first half and Orlando Engelaar gave them a well-deserved 0-1 lead after 18 minutes. Fred Rutten’s men also suffered an injury blow when striker Danny Koevermans sustained a hamstring injury in the 15th minute.
Orlando Engelaar gave PSV a 0-1 lead after 18 minutes.
Orlando Engelaar goal
PSV included Koevermans, Amrabat and Vukovic in the starting line up as they took on NAC Breda. Fred Rutten was forced into an injury change after only 15 minutes. Danny Koevermans limped off the pitch with a hamstring injury and Ola Toivonen left the bench to replace him. PSV opened the scoring three minutes later with their first meaningful attack. Nordin Amrabat played in Orlando Engelaar who embarked on a surging run down the right flank. The Holland international cut into the box and calmly unleashed an unstoppable low left-footed shot past NAC keeper Ten Rouwelaar into the far corner. PSV were in control of the game and the home side created hardly any chances. But against the run of play, Danny Gorter put the hosts on level terms ten minutes from half-time. When one-on-one with Isaksson, the former PSV player kept his cool to score the equaliser. Half-time score: 1-1.

Toivonen penalty claim turned down
Dzsudzsák had a well-struck free kick saved and Amrabat was also denied by Ten Rouwelaar as NAC were forced to defend deeply in their own half. PSV came close to regaining the lead after 65 minutes from a well-worked move. Amrabat turned provider for Engelaar but again Ten Rouwelaar kept the home side in the game with an excellent save. The goal was scored at the other end with 18 minutes remaining. Marcellis, who had come on for Maza nine minutes into the second half and had put in a fine display, could not keep his balance and Schilder gratefully slammed a finish beneath the exposed Isaksson: 2-1. It was pretty much all one-way traffic in the closing stages and Toivonen had a decent penalty claim turned down when he was fouled in the area, as PSV´s unbeaten run sadly came to an end. They will travel to Amsterdam next week to face Ajax at the Arena.
