All in all, the players handed out as gifts and piles of autographed pictures to as many as 749 young children. PSV mascot Phoxy accompanied Kevin Strootman, Atiba Hutchinson and Stanislav Manolev to cheer up the young patients in the Sint Anna Hospital in Geldrop. “It was an impressive visit. We hope we’ve made someone’s day”, said Strootman in the St Anna Hospital. “It’s great as footballers to be able to play our part. We try to put a smile on the faces of young patients and their parents. We visited six hospitals this year in order to make it a happy afternoon for as many children as possible.”

KWF Fight against cancer
Every year, PSV players pay a visit to young patients in a number of children’s hospitals. The players have launched this project themselves. The club is a partner of KWF, the Dutch Cancer Society charity fund, and supports in particular the research into cancers affecting young children. Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre is a leading academic centre with expertise in medical science and healthcare, where many young children receive outstanding treatment. Dries Mertens, Tim Matavz, Timothy Derijck and Wilfred Bouma paid them a visit.
PSV in the community
The visits on Wednesday afternoon had been organised in co-operation with the hospitals, Mattel, Philips and PSV in the community.
