PSV held to a 0-0 draw in Oberhausen
Chances were far and few
Hutchinson played at right back and Ritzmaier took up the left back position as a physically strong Oberhausen side took on PSV on a rain soaked pitch. First-half chances were far and few between. Engelaar threatened the Oberhausen goal from a free kick. Marcelo, Locadia and Mertens had half chances, while at the other end the home side rattled the bar from a free kick. After 40 minutes, Depay replaced Wijnaldum, who had picked up an ankle knock. Manolev came on for Engelaar after the break. The Bulgarian took up his familiar right back role and Hutchinson moved into midfield. Mertens came close to breaking the deadlock, while Oberhausen failed to take some chances of snatching a late win. Speaking after the game, Dick Advocaat said the pre-season friendly had been a good workout for the upcoming season. The PSV head coach hailed youngsters Peter van Ooijen and Marcel Ritzmaier for a fine performance. PSV will travel to Belgium next Sunday to face KRC Genk in a friendly, with a 15.30 kick-off. The Euro 2012 internationals will return to pre-season training on Thursday.
