PSV continue winning run with 0-2 victory at RKC Waalwijk

PSV continued their winning run with a 0-2 victory at RKC Waalwijk on Sunday afternoon, thanks to two second-half goals from .Jonathan Reis and Danko Lazovic. It was a precious victory as rivals Ajax crashed to a 2-0 defeat at FC Utrecht. Leaders FC Twente remain two points clear at the top of the table, following a 3-4 victory at N.E.C. Nijmegen.

First-half chances
PSV coach Fred Rutten made two changes to the side that beat Sparta Prague last time out, with Timmy Simons and Ola Toivonen replacing the suspended Ibrahim Afellay and Otman Bakkal, who sustained an ankle injury on Thursday. Good football was hardly possible due to the swampy conditions. PSV claimed the majority of the possession in the opening few minutes and Reis saw his effort cleared off the line by Metaj in the 11th minute. Gradually as the first half wore on, PSV became more prominent. Reis was denied by goalkeeper Levita on two occasions, while Reis, again, failed to connect with a cross, at the end of a well-worked move. Half-time score: 0-0.
Jonathan Reis has broken the deadlock for PSV after 63 minutes.
Second-half goals from Reis and Lazovic
Benschop had a great opportunity to open the scoring for RKC Waalwijk two minutes into the second half, but he could not control Benson´s centre. Dzsudzsák sent a free kick straight at the keeper and Reis could not make the breakthrough, either, when he was put clean through. Just when the home side thought they could pull off a shock result, Reis broke the deadlock for PSV after 63 minutes. Dzsudzsák whipped in a curling cross and the young Brazilian’s downward header went into the bottom left corner. Toivonen came close to doubling PSV´s lead but was denied by Levita. Twenty minutes from time, Koevermans came on for Reis, making his first appearance since sustaining a hamstring injury two months earlier. With seven minutes remaining, PSV put the result beyond doubt. Lazovic got his name on the score sheet, when, left unmarked, he headed home a Dzsudzsák free kick. Final score: 0-2.
