PSV beat Valenciennes 1-0 in a friendly at De Herdgang on Friday afternoon. Stef Nijland set up Ola Toivonen to score the only goal of the match after 17 minutes. PSV put in a solid display during which the youngsters Yannick Rymenants, Steve Olfers, Labyad and Mokthar got a chance to impress.

Stef Nijland found some space in the 17th minute to play a through ball to Ola Toivonen. The Swede controlled the pass and scored with a clinical finish. Danny Koevermans and André Ooijer, who are both recovering well from injuries, and 500 spectators saw Dirk Marcellis hit the post a few minutes later. The second period continued in the same vein, with PSV dominating play for long periods. At the other end, Saez was off target with an effort for the visitors. Maza, Labyad, Mokthar and Zhou were brought on as substitutes, as neither team created any more clear-cut chances. Next week, PSV will start to prepare for the domestic league clash against Heracles Almelo at the Philips Stadium on Sunday, November 22.
