Orlando Engelaar underwent successful surgery to the Achilles tendon on his left leg in Rotterdam on Wednesday. “I’m doing very well after an only minor operation”, said Engelaar at De Herdgang training centre on Thursday, just when the PSV squad returned from Romania, where they recorded a 0-2 victory over Cluj on Wednesday night.
Orlando Engelaar spoke to PSV TV.
“The best moment”
Engelaar had been plague by Achilles tendon trouble for some weeks. “I had been suffering a sore Achilles tendon for some weeks and playing through the pain barrier only aggravated things. I was ruled out for Sunday’s game against Roda JC through suspension, so this was the best moment to undergo surgery”, said the Holland midfielder. Engelaar will return to training in January when PSV start to prepare for the second part of the 2009/10 season. “The doctor assured me things will be fine. It was only a minor operation.”
