The board of PSV confirmed on Wednesday that the Russian top club Zenit St. Petersburg have completed the transfer of 26-year-old Danko Lazovic from PSV with immediate effect. PSV
“Discussed the situation”
“Last week, Danko told head coach Fred Rutten that Zenit were interested in securing his services”, explains PSV´s General Manager Jan Reker. “Fred Rutten was taken by surprise and wanted to hold on to him. We extensively discussed the situation and eventually reluctantly decided to give Danko Lazovic permission to make a move to Russia. Lazovic was very keen to move to Russia and added that he would face mental problems to meet RKC Waalwijk on Saturday. We have immediately bolstered our squad with the signing of Andy van der Meyde.” Lazovic joined PSV from Vitesse in the summer of 2007 and had spells with Partizan Belgrade, Feyenoord and Bayer Leverkusen before. Lazovic scored five league goals for PSV this season.
