Karim Rekik joins on a one-year loan from Manchester City
Rekik: “I’m very happy to be here”
The defender has been given the No.3 shirt. After putting pen to paper on a one-year loan deal, he told PSV TV at De Herdgang training facilities: “I’m very happy to be here. I had a very warm welcome and will do my very best to win the title with PSV. I want to become a better player. We have a great manager and we have a good potential to challenge everyone. I’m looking forward to the new season”, said the new signing.
Rekik, who lifted the European Under-16 Championship crown in 2011, is regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the Netherlands. He joined English top club Manchester City from Feyenoord in 2011 at the age of sixteen. Rekik spent the 2011/12 season on loan with Portsmouth FC and last season he had a loan stint with Blackburn Rovers, another Championship club. The defender made his Premier League debut for Manchester City in a 1-0 win, at home to Reading FC on 22 December 2012.
