Fred Rutten previewed his team’s KNVB Cup tie against Feyenoord at a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon. The PSV head coach told media representatives he expects PSV will face a side who are highly motivated to progress to the next round. Balázs Dzsudzsák will miss Wednesday’s clash through suspension, while Stanislav Manolev is doubtful for the quarter-final tie.

Head coach Fred Rutten took charge of the Tuesday training at the Philips Stadium.

Wuytens and Engelaar

Stijn Wuytens is also ruled out of Wednesday night’s game. “Stijn is ill. He stayed away from De Herdgang training centre today as we do not know whether he has contracted a contagious disease. Stanislav Manolev is doubtful after he took a knock to his ankle at training on Friday. Yesterday he did not train and today he was present at the first part of training, so we’ll have to wait and see whether he is fit enough to start.” Orlando Engelaar is set to make his return for PSV tomorrow. “He may be called up to the match squad. He returned to full training and we now have to wait and see how he reacts. We won’t take unnecessary risks with him. Nordin Amrabat is likely to replace Dzsudzsák”, said Rutten.

Rutten: “A big game for both clubs”

Fred Rutten expects PSV will face a side who are highly motivated to progress to the next round. “It is a big game for Feyenoord, as they want to book a place in a European competition next season. They are enjoying a good run of form. Their defence is well-organised and I think they have already kept eleven clean sheets. Feyenoord´s future looks bright as a generation of young talent is breaking through.” Rutten realises it will be a big game for both clubs. “Balázs Dzsudzsák is very disappointed he can’t feature in tomorrow night’s game, which says it all. PSV v Feyenoord is the kind of classic Cup game that people want to see. We have improved over last season and I am pleased for the fans because we have given them something so far this season”, concluded Fred Rutten.
