The groin injury that Andreas Isaksson sustained during the EURO 2012 qualifying game between Sweden and Hungary is less serious than initially believed. An MRI scan taken on the goalkeeper’s right groin has confirmed that the damage is less serious than feared. Isaksson will start light training this week, but it is uncertain whether he will be available for selection on Saturday.
Isaksson: “Getting myself fit”
It is still uncertain whether the goalkeeper will be available for Saturday’s clash at home to N.E.C. “I am glad the injury is less serious than initially feared”, admitted Isaksson. “I’m concentrating on getting myself fit and make myself available for selection.” Isaksson made way for Johan Wiland after straining his groin with his last kick of the first half during Sweden’s 2-0 win over Hungary on Friday. Andreas Isaksson was the only PSV player that played all 34 league games for his club last season.
