2009 has been an eventful year. It was full of highs and lows. Following is a look at some of the most memorable moments of the past twelve months.
January
PSV parted company with head coach Huub Stevens.
February
Danny Koevermans scored twice to haul PSV back for a 2-2 draw with AZ.
March
The match away against FC Twente was delayed for 24 hours because of an unfit playing surface.
April
Fred Rutten was presented to the media as PSV´s new head coach.
May
Dwight Lodeweges and Jan Wouters bade farewell to PSV.
June
Orlando Engelaar signed a four-year contract with PSV.
July
25.000 fans attended Phillip Cocu’s farewell match at PSV.
August
PSV progressed in the Europa League. They secured their second 1-0 success against Bnei Yehuda with Timmy Simons scoring the only goal from the penalty spot.
September
There was an outbreak of fire in one of the stands during welding work at the Philips Stadium. The calamity prevention plan came into force and was executed well.
October
PSV earned an emphatic 0-4 victory over N.E.C. in Nijmegen, with Danko Lazovic putting up four fingers.
November
Holland were held to a goalless draw by Paraguay. Otman Bakkal made his senior debut for the Oranje when he came on as a substitute five minutes from time.
December
An injury-time strike by Jonathan Reis sent PSV into the Europa League knockout rounds with a 1-0 home win over Sparta Prague.
