Hutchinson: “Great to be here”

PSV announced on Thursday they had completed the signing of FC Copenhagen midfielder Atiba Hutchinson on a free transfer. On Tuesday afternoon, the midfielder made a brief return to the Philips Stadium, where he had made an UEFA Europa League appearance for FC Copenhagen earlier this season. “It’s very exciting. I’m a very happy guy now. I’ve just finished everything right now. I’m standing here in this fantastic stadium. I’ve only good positive things to say about the club”, he told PSV TV.

“I want to come here and develop as a player. PSV is a very big club with a lot of good, experienced players who have been playing at a really high level. I want to gain a lot of experience and win a lot of championships with PSV”, explained Hutchinson. The Canadian will wear the No. 13 shirt. “For me it’s such a good lucky number. I think it’s a good number. I’ve had it for a while. I like to stick to it and I’m happy I can get it.” Hutchinson was also shown around PSV´s training facilities after having successfully undergone a medical.

47 caps for Canada
Canadian Hutchinson has earned 47 times for his country. He started his professional career at York Region Shooters, after which he had spells with Toronto Lynx, Östers IF, Helsingsborgs IF and FC Copenhagen. Hutchinson was included 201 times in FC Copenhagen’s starting line-up. He has made 212 appearances for the current Danish Superliga leaders so far, scoring 29 goals. The 27-year-old clinched the Danish title with FC Copenhagen last season, just like he did in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. The 27-year-old Canadian international will join PSV for the start of the 2010-11 season. He will fly back to Denmark later this afternoon and looks to finish the season with FC Copenhagen on a high note.
