Género Zeefuik signs four-year deal with FC Groningen

FC Groningen have completed the signing of Género Zeefuik from PSV on a four-year deal. The 22-year-old striker was presented to the media in Groningen on Tuesday afternoon. At the age of 16, Zeefuik made his first-team debut for PSV and won the Eredivisie title at the Philips Stadium in 2007 and 2008. He spent the 2011/12 season on loan with N.E.C.

Debut in March 2007

Zeefuik, born in Amsterdam on 22 April 1990, made his first-team debut for PSV in March 2007 under then manager Ronald Koeman. After having won the Eredivisie title at the Philips Stadium in 2007 and 2008, he had loan spells with First Division sides FC Omniworld and FC Dordrecht. He returned to PSV last season, after which the spent the 2011/12 campaign on loan with N.E.C.

“Género Zeefuik has made good progress during his loan spell with N.E.C.”, says PSV´s technical director Marcel Brands. “He had one year left on his contract with PSV, but as he faced tough competition from strikers Matavz and Lens and promising youngsters Locadia and Bentancourt, we have decided to sell him to FC Groningen.” PSV.nl wishes Género Zeefuik every success in the future with his new club FC Groningen.
