Speaking after the game, Fred Rutten said he had been curious to see how his team would respond to the midweek cup defeat against Feyenoord. “I think my team responded well but we didn’t have a good result in Arnhem. We can live with that. We face a hectic fixture list, with crucial matches coming up. We will be next in action in only three days when we entertain FC Utrecht.”

“Focus on Wednesday’s match”
“I was very curious to see how my team would respond the midweek cup defeat against Feyenoord.”, said Fred Rutten in Arnhem. “We put in a commanding first-half display and had three guilt-edged chances to open the scoring. We should have taken at least one and then the game would have been a little bit different ”, said Rutten, who admitted that the hosts improved after the break. “Vitesse had two great goal scoring opportunities. I think my team responded well but we didn’t have a good result in Arnhem. We can live with that. We face a hectic fixture list, with crucial matches coming up. We will be next in action in only three days when we entertain FC Utrecht. At the end of the season, we may regret having dropped points here today. Yet I am pleased with our performance.”

“Proud of my team’s efforts”
Vitesse coach Theo Bos believed his side could be proud of their efforts as they played out a goalless draw with PSV at the Gelredome on Sunday afternoon. “I was also curious to see how PSV would respond”, he said at the post-match conference. “They are a team that can switch quickly from defence to attack. We were somewhat afraid to be overrun by them but at the same time we hoped to capitalise on the space left for us by our opponents´ attacking. PSV threatened from set pieces in the first half and we were lucky not to concede a goal. We played good football after the break and we had some chances. I don’t think this was a dreary goalless draw. I am proud we held PSV to a draw.”
