Fred Rutten previews friendly against Valenciennes
Fred Rutten previewed the friendly against Valenciennes.
“Get more rhythm”
The friendly against Valenciennes FC will take place at the De Herdgang training facilities. Rutten: “Some youngsters will get their first taste of action this season at senior level. They will be given a chance to impress. It will be a great motivation for them when they face a good opponent. Other players, including Danny Koevermans, return from injuries and will get more rhythm this way.” Engelaar, Afellay (Holland), Pieters (Holland Under-21), Dzsudzsák (Hungary), Vukovic (Serbia) and Isaksson, (Sweden) are all away on international duty. “It’s no use having tactical training sessions this week, but I hasten to add that it is important for the club we have so many players away on international duty. I am happy Orlando Engelaar has been recalled to the Dutch squad to face Italy and Paraguay in international friendlies.” PSV meet Valenciennes FC, who are currently lying seventh in the French league. First-team regulars Timmy Simons and Carlos Salcido will start, while the youngsters Steve Olfers and Yannick Rymenants have also been included in the starting XI. Maza starts on the bench, along with, among other players, Funso Ojo and Bas Roorda.
