Fred Rutten: "It’s going to be an interesting game”
"It’s going to be an interesting game”
"We’ll meet an opponent who have had a very hectic week. AZ have been dealt a big blow when they were eliminated from the Europa League, but they have appointed Dick Advocaat as their coach: He has gained plenty of experience and knows how to cope with problems. I held him in high esteem: he has won many trophies", said Rutten at De Herdgang training facilities on Friday afternoon. “I look forward to an interesting game. I don’t expect AZ to throw men forward. We need to play our own game." Otman Bakkal has recovered from injury and is available again. "The RKC Waalwijk game came too early for him, but we will now be able to call him up to the mach squad again.” The same goes for Danny Koevermans and André Ooijer, who did not pick up any fresh problems at training. Kromkamp, Bas Roorda and Reimond Manco, who featured 45 minutes in Young PSV´s 1-1 draw at Willem II, are well on their way to full recovery.
Standard Liege - AZ
Fred Rutten was in Belgium on Wednesday to see the Standard Liege-AZ game himself. "It was an exciting game that could have gone either way. I thought that the team that would open the scoring would get chances to double their lead. I enjoyed the terrific atmosphere in a tremendous stadium.”
