Fred Rutten praised PSV after ‘a near perfect’ first half against ADO Den Haag
09 november 2009 09:30
Fred Rutten was understandably satisfied with his side’s 1-5 rout of ADO Den Haag. “We were nearly perfect in the first half. We played the type of football I want to see as a coach. I am delighted with the emphatic win”, said Rutten at the post-match conference, adding that his side had made it clear from the beginning they would take all three points.
Rutten reviewed the match.
“Toivonen responded well”
“I think we delivered a big first half. We were nearly perfect in the first forty-five minutes”, started Rutten his analysis of his side’s 1-5 victory. “At half-time we had taken a three-goal lead to crown a ´near perfect´ performance. We played the type of football I want to see as a coach. Ola Toivonen was dropped to the bench the past few games but he has responded well. All the players raised the level of their game and we it made clear from the beginning we would take all three points.”

Atteveld: “We were on the wrong track”
“We were on the wrong track after ten minutes”, admitted ADO Den Haag coach Raymond Atteveld. “PSV forwards kept cutting into our box and we had some defensive weaknesses exposed. We were soon trailing by two goals and we knew the game was over when we were reduced to ten men. As a coach, it is hard to see the players suffer such a heavy defeat. A defeat may not be the end of the world, but I am definitely not pleased with the way we conceded defeat.”
