PSV did not put in a sparkling display against ADO Den Haag, but, speaking after the game, head coach Fred Rutten expressed his delight with the 2-0 win. “I’m glad we held our composure and I’m delighted with the tactical discipline shown by the players. We scored two goals to seal three points”, said Rutten at the post-match conference at the Philips Stadium.

“We held our composure”

“I knew we would face a tough opponent tonight”, said Rutten. “It was not a very entertaining game, as ADO Den Haag were well organised and played a compact defence. But we held our composure and the players showed tactical discipline. We might have been tempted to play long balls and start running all over the field, but we did not. With the games coming thick and fast for us, I am happy we scored two goals to seal three points”, concluded PSV´s head coach. His colleague Raymond Atteveld was disappointed his team had conceded a first-half goal. “We intended to defend sharply at set pieces and yet we conceded a goal from a corner. We suffered only a 2-0 defeat against the league leaders, but I must admit we never got to grips with the game.”
