Fred Rutten: “Differing halves”

Head coach Fred Rutten.
Fred Rutten was happy with his side’s 2-1 victory over FC Utrecht but also made some critical remarks about his players. At the post-match conference he said he had seen four very different parts of football during Wednesday night’s game against FC Utrecht. “We put on a fine display during the first twenty-five minutes of the first as well as the second half, but we’ve had an unacceptable level of performance in the second part of the first and second period”, Rutten admitted.
“Four differing parts”.
“We put on a fine display during the first twenty-five minutes of the first half and scored an excellent goal. But then the game became more scrappy and we had an unacceptable level of performance. The players acted rather strangely in the closing stages, picking up unnecessary yellow cards and delivering fancy back heel passes. That was not a very professional attitude, but I am happy with the win.”
