Dick Advocaat looked ahead to Sunday’s league game at home to AZ during his weekly press briefing on Friday afternoon. PSV´s head coach lavished praises on the club from Alkmaar, their coach Gertjan Verbeek and management. “They have done some fantastic work in Alkmaar the past few years”, said Advocaat.

AZ will be highly motivated

Advocaat admitted it is hard to predict if AZ will have recovered from the heavy 5-0 defeat they suffered at home to Anzhi in the UEFA Europe League play-off second leg on Thursday. “Yet I expect AZ will be keen to make amends. They will probably have forgotten the Anzhi game by Sunday and will be highly motivated to pull off a good result.” Jeremain Lens, who, just like Advocaat, had a spell with AZ, shared his manager’s views. “The defeat must have been a blow to their morale, so I expect they will be eager to return to winning ways. Yet I think some first-team regulars that have left the club will be sorely missed. We will stick to our own game plan and hopefully we will do well on Sunday afternoon.”
