Ernest Faber has left his position as Holland National football team assistant coach after EURO 2012 to focus entirely on his new job as assistant coach at the Philips Stadion. He was appointed as Bert van Marwijk´s assistant in 2011. “It was an intensive period of action. I look back at my time at the KNVB with fondness. I've certainly learnt a lot”, said Faber.

“Focus entirely on PSV”

After Van Marwijk had resigned as head coach of the Dutch national football team, Ernest Faber had his contract with the KNVB dissolved. He indicated that he would not be available as assistant coach of the Oranje in the build-up to the 2014 World Cup. “It was an intensive period of action. I look back at my time at the KNVB with fondness. I've certainly learnt a lot, but now that Van Marwijk has decided to quit as Netherlands coach, I don’t think it would be appropriate to stay on as assistant coach. I will focus entirely on my new job as assistant coach at PSV”, said Faber, who, together with Dick Advocaat, led the squad’s first training session of the new season on Sunday morning.
