Advocaat previews FC Groningen game

One day after guiding his team to a 0-5 win over FK Zeta, PSV head coach Dick Advocaat looked ahead to his side’s trip to FC Groningen on Sunday. “We will be ready to take on a new challenge. On Sunday, the long mid-week trip and conditions in Montenegro will not serve as an excuse. We must win matches to achieve our aim of being crowned champions at the end of the season”, said Advocaat at his press briefing at De Herdgang training facilities on Friday afternoon.

Win each and every game

“We suppose we will have shaken off tiredness by Sunday, but you can never be quite sure”, admitted Advocaat after the mid-week trip to Montenegro under hot and humid conditions. Advocaat would not call Sunday’s game crucial. “This is only the third league game of the season. Just look at Ajax. They were a club in crisis from November until January and then they extended a winning streak to fourteen matches. The main thing is to be on top of the table at the end of the season. You should always want to win each and every game”, said Advocaat.

Different style of play

Advocaat expects FC Groningen to adopt a more attacking style of play than RKC did in the opening game of the season two weeks ago. “Groningen play at home and will have attacking ideas. I expect them try and surge forward into our box”, predicted Advocaat, who would not reveal his starting line-up yet. “I will first inform the players”. Sunday’s game at the Euroborg in Groningen gets underway at 16.30.
