Advocaat’s post-match reaction

PSV head coach Dick Advocaat was obviously pleased with the 1-3 away win at FC Groningen “FC Groningen are a hard working and stubborn team that is hard to beat, but we managed to do that. We were comfortable with the ball after the break, passing it around and creating some fine chances. Quality in front of goal separated the two sides.” Advocaat was also happy with the progress shown by his team. “We deserved the victory and hardly conceded chances, which is a good thing”, concluded Advocaat.

Maaskant´s post-match reaction

FC Groningen coach Robert Maaskant shared Advocaat’s views. “We played a compact defence and hoped to take advantage of PSV´s defensive slips and surprise and catch them on the counter. But actually the reverse happened and it was PSV who caught us on the counter attack with their second goal. We attempted to put pressure on their defence and even when we were trailing 0-2, we hoped we could stage a comeback. But at the end of the day, we must admit there’s no shame in being beaten by a PSV side that looks to be in great shape”, said Maaskant.
