PSV MEDIA - Phillip Cocu wants to gain the necessary knowledge and experience as a coach at the PSV Academy. The former PSV captain intends to pursue a career as a coach in professional football and is going to do the professional football coach course next season. He will do his work placement at the training sessions of the Dutch national team, and also intends to work with PSV youth teams.
Cocu returns to Holland this summer, after having spent one season with Al-Jazeera from Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Bert van Marwijk has been appointed as the new Holland coach next season and Cocu will complete the technical staff of the Dutch team. Cocu will assist Van Marwijk at the training sessions of the Dutch team and intends to spend much time working with one or two PSV youth teams.

“PSV is the best choice for me, as I relish the challenge of working with the best youth players in Holland”, explains Cocu, who will not take charge of one team, but will work with several PSV youth coaches. “PSV and I obviously still have strong ties. For me, it’s a learning process and I want to gain experience, working at the highest possible level. PSV have responded favourably to my request.”
